“I left my heart in Amsterdam, where I could dream and nights were long” Or so the song by Nothing but thieves goes. In this edition of 48 hours in… Amsterdam we will try for you to leave your heart in Amsterdam. The best place to stay is, of course, Inntel Hotels Amsterdam Centre.
Face Amsterdam – Experience Amsterdam, the dynamic and multicultural city
Inntel Hotels Amsterdam Centre is located at a mere 5-minute walk from Central Station. A great starting point to visit all of Amsterdam’s hotspots. And the beautiful rooms are perfect for unwinding after a busy day. Like the Wellness room which includes a private sauna and bubble bath.
Friday
18:00h
After check-in grab a drink at the bar and discuss where to go first. A perfect place to play I spy with my little eye. Have you seen the bike? And the tulips are of course hard to miss.
19:00h
Next to the hotel is the restaurant Humphrey’s. A cosy place where you can get a 3-course dinner for only €39,95. They will also deliver to the room if you prefer staying there.
22:00h
After dinner, it would be nice to discover Amsterdam’s nightlife. Spruce yourself up in the hotel room and don’t forget to put your valuables in the safe. Pickpockets go clubbing too. The nightlife hotspots are Rembrandtplein en Leidseplein. Here you’ll find a club or bar for everyone’s taste.
Saturday
10:00h
After a good night’s sleep, it’s time for breakfast. First, some orange juice for the vitamins and coffee to wake up. Then maybe some nice fresh bread rolls.
11.30h
Time to go out and explore. Amsterdam is beautiful from the water. If you walk to central station you will find various canal cruises. Don’t forget to stop by the reception for some discount vouchers.
12.45h
Visiting Amsterdam isn’t complete without going to the Vondelpark. For lunch, we recommend Park Zuid. A nice restaurant with a large terrace, located in the Vondelpark pavilion.
14:30h
From the Vondelpark, it is a short walk to Museumplein. There you have your choice of museums. Will you go to the Van Gogh, Stedelijk museum or Rijksmuseum? Or all three? It’s best to buy the tickets beforehand. The reception desk will be happy to assist you with that.
17:30h
Time to unwind. Our Finnish sauna and Turkish steam room are perfect for just that.
20.00h
For dishes that are finger-licking good, you can have dinner at Cannibale Royale. It’s not just for meat dishes they also have great food for vegetarians.
22.30h
Saturday night is a perfect time to visit the red light district. It’s always busy and a (first time) visit to Amsterdam isn’t complete without seeing this. If you like games you can also visit the TonTon club with games for everyone.
Sunday
10.00h
The last day in Amsterdam. First up: breakfast. After breakfast, you can leave your luggage at the reception and explore Amsterdam
11:30h
A really cute place to go shopping is “9 straatjes”. The shops open at 12 o ‘clock. If you walk there you can enjoy the beautiful canal houses.
13.00h
Is your stomach growling? If you take the ferry from Central Station to Buiksloterweg, you can have lunch at Polly Goudvisch or THT in the Tolhuistuin Pavilion. Afterwards, you can go to their neighbour, A’dam Lookout. Here you have a wonderful view over Amsterdam and there’s a swing for the daredevils to swing 100 meters above the ground.
16.00h
If you take the ferry back to the centre you will be able to visit some more attractions. Hang out with famous people at Madame Tussauds. Or discover the human body at Body Worlds.
18:00h
All good things must come to an end. Time to grab your suitcase and go home. We hope you had fun. Want to discover more Dutch cities? We recommend reading 48 hours in Utrecht, and 48 hours in Zaandam.
