New Year’s Eve is literally a blast in The Netherlands due to all the fireworks. At many places, you can watch the fireworks or light up the sky yourself. Others choose to let the Champagne bottles pop since this can’t be left out of the celebrations. Enjoy the traditional Dutch ‘oliebollen’ before heading out to one of the greatest NYE parties!
Lighting up the skies
From 18.00 until and including 02.00 o’clock everyone’s allowed to light their fireworks. Which do you prefer? Beautiful fountains, missiles or the loud explosions of firecrackers. Between these hours you can light up the sky. Just remember to wish everyone a happy new year at midnight.
The biggest firework display is in Rotterdam. This year the city will hold 3 separate shows. You can view them at the Erasmus Bridge, in Nesselande and at Hoek van Holland. The festivities will begin at 22.30 with a mix of 2019’s biggest hit songs. When the clock strikes midnight the sky will be spectacularly lit by the most beautiful flares.
