Hi, my name is Laura Lassche. I’m half Spanish and half Dutch. I’m 36 years old and I’ve lived in Utrecht for over 20 years.
What makes Utrecht perfect for a romantic get-away?
It is perfect for a romantic stroll by the canals to find the right spot for a dinner by the waterside. For shoppers, it’s visiting the newly renovated Hoog Catharijne, the biggest shopping mall in The Netherlands. Some might consider Utrecht a big city, but I feel it’s a very intimate city. Which makes it perfect for strolls and drinks with friends. My personal tips to grab a drink are Tivoli, Olivier, and Quignon. Besides our own bar and restaurant The U of course!

What bucket-list activities and sight-seeing opportunities in and around Utrecht are a must for couples?
Places not to miss are De Haar Castle and our monumental Dom Tower. Personally I enjoy climbing the Dom Tower in the dark or a canal cruise with my loved one. For couples that are a bit more sporty, it’s also possible to go canoeing on the canals. The best end to a day together is a dinner at ’t Oude Pothuys. It’s a small restaurant which is perfect for a romantic dinner. Sometimes they even have live music.
What can only be found in Utrecht and no place else?
Of course, there are many cities with canals, but to be able to sit by the water and enjoy a dinner or drinks is something that is typical for Utrecht.
Do you have any tips to make the weekend unforgettable?
An overnight stay at Inntel Hotels Utrecht Centre would surely make the weekend unforgettable. Make sure to book a room with a whirlpool, like the Wellness Room or the Wellness Suite. To surprise your loved one have the team decorate the room. That way you can end the night by getting into the whirlpool with a glass of bubbles. The view over Utrecht will be spectacular!
